2007: Justine visited Fes, Morocco, for two months during the winter of 2007 on an artist's retreat to carve stone. It was an exhilarating experience for her to be carving stone on a terrace overlooking the Medina with its pallid ochre terrace tops, laundry lines, children playing simply and intermittent calls from the Mosque requesting everyone's attention to prayer. Pigeons cooed lovingly, watching from the walls above with the sun beating down, and she was filled with gratitude for being able to experience time alone to focus only on herself and the stone.
